Welcome to my new blog! I’m Joshua James, a 51-year-old polyamorous dude who has experienced the ups and downs that life has to offer. Throughout my journey, I’ve had my fair share of successes and failures, some of which I plan to document here. Currently, I reside in a small, charming town in Eastern Ontario, cohabiting in a large historic house with my primary partner/spouse. Our dynamic also includes our partner and her primary partner, along with a delightful assortment of lovable misfits. Among them are some of our children, ranging in ages from 3 to 20, an international student from India, and other partners/friends who may not physically live with us but remain integral members of our inner circle. Despite our unconventional structure, we are much like any other “normal” family, facing “normal” challenges.
Through this blog, I aim to share some of our adventures and challenges, while also addressing common myths and misconceptions surrounding polyamory. Often, when I engage with individuals unfamiliar with polyamory, I receive one of two reactions: admiration for having a spouse and two girlfriends… Stud or misconceptions suggesting that I am merely “allowing” my spouse to date other people…Cuck! So, join me on this journey to challenge assumptions and shed light on the reality of being a polyamorous family.
